In the Beginning!
After three years of coaching and supervising Morgantown, West Virginia’s community schools gymnastics program and a dire need for much more time and permanent training stations, Gene Diaz began the Gymorgantown School of Gymnastics in 1976. The facility was rented for the first five years then purchased and upgraded. Gymorgantown was an 8,000 sq. ft. well equipped training facility with some of the first free foam pits for vault, uneven bars, parallel bars, rings, and high bar anywhere in the U.S.. After four years of success a sister facility was opened in Uniontown, PA. The sister gym. was named Gymuniontown Gymnastics Training Center. Gymuniontown was not only a very nice training facility but, was the site of many sanctioned USGF meets for five years. In 1986 the lease option to renew was not pursued.

It Was Time!
Why not renew the lease in Uniontown? With two gyms loaded with great equipment, great health, and a vision, it was either build a new large state of the art training facility in Morgantown, or after 13 years make a move back home to Florida. While pursuing both options an offer to purchase the Gymorgantown property was made.
Now either move was greatly simplified & financially more realistic.

The West Virginia Gymnastics Training Center was established in 1989. W.V.G.T.C. took four years of careful planning, designing, and site location. Once under construction the center came together in many stages ranging from the actual building construction on a 2 acre lot to the set up of the gymnastics equipment and the usual finishing touches. The tremendous advantage of the new state of the art facility was very apparent, by allowing for more stations, less congestion, and a variety of modified training areas just to mention a few. In December of 2002 the training center began a major face lift & expansion. This included the addition of some 5,000 sq. feet, new equipment, specialty training areas, more pits, & custom mats for the various stations.
Through GODS grace W.V.G.T.C. is now a training center and competition venue tough to beat.
